We all love our pets for their companionship, calm, and security and for making us responsible. And we don’t want to leave them home when we go out.
So either we dedicate our weekend to our dog’s recreation, like taking him to a dog pool, or let me accompany ourselves while we go shopping.
But are all stores pet-friendly? If not, where should we leave the dog? In the car? Which is very dangerous and unlawful? Or at home, which has the risk of developing separation anxiety in him or creating a mess?
So why not look for those stores that welcome your little furry friend? Sounds good, isn’t it?
That’s why today we will explore stores where we can’t hesitate to take our dogs.
So, let’s begin!

The Prerequisites For Bringing Your Dog To Any Pet-Friendly Store
When a store is generous enough to welcome your furry friend, some duty lies on us as well to ensure our dog remains a source of peace for them.
If your furry causes trouble, this will make your shopping a hell for other shoppers too, and ultimately affect the store’s peace.
Quick Checklist
So here are some prerequisites for bringing your dog to any store that allows dogs.
- Your dog is under your command. You have control over your dog to stop it and move it immediately. If he’s not that good ‘guy’ you need to revisit your decision to bring him with you
- Your dog is potty-trained
- He must be leashed all the time, and you shouldn’t be leaving the leash at any time
- Your dog must be vaccinated against all the basic ailments or allergies
- Be courteous and considerate of other customers who avoid getting closer to the pets
Stores that don’t allow specifically
Some stores plainly say “No to animals”, not because they are prejudiced against pets, but because they have too much to handle, including the huge number of customers and the products they sell.
So, remind yourself before you take your dog with you while you leave for the following stores:
- Walmart
- Tiffany’s
- IKEA
- Target
- Sam’s Club
- Trader Joe’s
- Costco
And, of course, for handicapped persons, the expectation is always there in the form of service dogs. (Check out our article about how to get your dog service certified)
The Bottom Line
There’s a long list of retail stores in different industries that allow dogs. But at the same time, some branches of these stores have had bad experiences with their customers’ pets. So before you get into any store for the first time, make sure you telephone that branch and ask about their pet policy. Sometimes, the dogs are allowed, but the size of the dog is an issue. Of course, it’s your moral duty to understand that the store’s peace and tidiness aren’t compromised with your dog.
